At Captain’s Rest, we acknowledge that we are only the fleeting current custodians of this special place. We recognise that we are located and conduct business on the unceded lands of the Timkarik People who have cared for and nurtured these lands for thousands of years, and acknowledge their sovereignty over their lands. We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and extend that respect to all traditional custodians of lands in Tasmania, across Australia, and throughout the world.

We thank and pay homage to those who have built the Heritage Shack Village in which we are based over many generations, starting at some point in 1880’s without doubt much shared effort, laughs, epic fishing tales, and cold brews.We respect and care for our neighbours, nurture and support our local team and supporting small businesses who caretake and housekeep, and aim to leave this planet and its people better than we found it for future generations to come. Above all, we love our guests dearly. We love to host, share and surprise, delight and help make memories that will last a lifetime.
